One one of the more well-known (and well-documented) capabilities is the full-screen toggle: Shift+F2. There have been a set of hotkey capabilities built into our Workspace App for many years. In the 19th century, Idar-Oberstein, Germany, became the world's largest chalcedony processing center, working mostly on agates. (Jewish tradition states that Moses' brother Aaron wore the Breastplate, with inscribed gems representing the twelve tribes of Israel.) The Breastplate supposedly included jasper, chrysoprase and sardonyx, and there is some debate as to whether other agates were also used. The term chalcedony is derived from the name of the ancient Greek town Chalkedon in Asia Minor, in modern English usually spelled Chalcedon, today the Kadıköy district of Istanbul.Īccording to tradition, at least three varieties of chalcedony were used in the Jewish High Priest's Breastplate. Hot wax would not stick to it so it was often used to make seal impressions. People living along the Central Asian trade routes used various forms of chalcedony, including carnelian, to carve intaglios, ring bezels (the upper faceted portion of a gem projecting from the ring setting), and beads that show strong Greco-Roman influence.įine examples of first century objects made from chalcedony, possibly Kushan, were found in recent years at Tillya-tepe in north-western Afghanistan. In the Bronze Age chalcedony was in use in the Mediterranean region for example, on Minoan Crete at the Palace of Knossos, chalcedony seals have been recovered dating to circa 1800 BC. Pre-contact uses described in the twentieth century included ceremonial stone knives. History Chalcedony cameo of Titus head, 2nd Century ADĬhalcedony was used in tool making as early as 32,000 BP in Central Australia where archaeological studies at sites in the Cleland Hills uncovered flakes from stone brought in from quarries many kilometres away. Landscape agate is chalcedony with a number of different mineral impurities making the stone resemble landscapes. Fire agate shows iridescent phenomena on a brown background iris agate shows exceptional iridescence when light (especially pinpointed light) is shone through the stone. Opaque varieties are sometimes referred to as jasper. The more notable varieties of chalcedony are as follows:Īgate is a variety of chalcedony characterized by either transparency or color patterns, such as multi-colored curved or angular banding. Many semi-precious gemstones are in fact forms of chalcedony. A rare Moroccan pseudomorph of a spiral Turritella-like snail shell that has been replaced by chalcedony Varieties Ĭhalcedony occurs in a wide range of varieties. The term plasma is sometimes used to refer to green translucent chalcedony. Another reference to a gem by the name of khalkedón ( χαλκηδών) is found in the Book of Revelation (21:19) however, it is a hapax legomenon found nowhere else in the Bible, so it is hard to tell whether the precious gem mentioned in Revelation is the same as the mineral known by this name today. The name appears in Pliny the Elder's Naturalis Historia as a term for a translucent kind of jaspis. The name chalcedony comes from the Latin chalcedonius (alternatively spelled calchedonius) and is probably derived from the town of Chalcedon in Turkey. The color of chalcedony sold commercially is often enhanced by dyeing or heating. It can assume a wide range of colors, but those most commonly seen are white to gray, grayish-blue or a shade of brown ranging from pale to nearly black. Chalcedony's standard chemical structure (based on the chemical structure of quartz) is SiO 2 ( silicon dioxide).Ĭhalcedony has a waxy luster, and may be semitransparent or translucent. The solution I found was to simply use a collaborative drawing app called Explain Everything" that runs on both desktop (Web) and Android (app). Also, there was usually considerable lag. However, there are some issues with cursor sensitivity, and (depending on which remote software you use) you usually have to make a custom "gesture" to draw. It does not solve it in 100% the way you had envisioned, but let me see if it helps you.Īt first I was thinking to use the Android device as a remote desktop control (for example, via TeamViewer of Chrome Remote Deksktop) for my computer, and then open drawing software on the desktop computer and control that using the stylus on the Android device. I had the exact same wish as you, and I eventually found a solution I was happy with. You'll never be satisfied with the results. Sure, you can use a touchscreen to draw and to create artwork, but asking it to replace a Wacom tablet is like asking finger-painting to replace the whole range of artists' paintbrushes. Samsung's Note series has a pretty advanced stylus, and it makes a nice drawing tool, but it still lacks the advanced features like angle sensitivity. It can't react to you hovering over it, to the natural pressure changes you get over the course of a stroke, or to the angle. You can wield the stylus like a calligraphy pen, an airbrush, or anything in between.Ī capacitive touchscreen such as you get on a Nexus 7 is designed to detect fat blobs like finger tips. A drawing tablet has a resolution of a fraction of a millimetre. The stylus is also sensitive to the angle you hold it at, and the tablet can detect when the stylus is hovering above the tablet, even with no contact. Drawing tablets use a stylus with one or two pressure-sensitive tips and several buttons. A touchscreen tablet is not like a Wacom tablet. Roller Drama is coming to PC, via Steam, and Switch) early next year, with the other console boxes getting it later. Plus roller derby is a very Thunder Dome feeling kind of sport anyway, so I'll say that it thematically tracks. Together they form a top Roller Derby team, a full contact sport on quad skates Your job is to act as a keeper of the team, managing both their personal and professional lives. At the same time, though, it does open up some potentially interesting story stuff. Summary: In Roller Drama, you (Joan) live with & coach five kickass athletes: Anne, Portia, Lily, Cordelia, and Juliet. I worry things like that can very easily go from self-aware to self-conscious to self-parody. Roller Drama takes place in an alternate world where "things are going slightly worse than they are here", which explains why part of the blurb says the players "grapple with friendship, heartbreak, and late capitalist society…". I really like the art style for the rest of the game, actually, which I am told has been hand drawn by illustrator Vic Macioci. In between making sure your skaters don't get too sad to hip check a part-time sysadmin in their matches, you have to actually manage said matches, which are real-time strategy challenges played out by cute lil 3D skaters. Inside a sports video game, however, I can see it working. Roller Drama is a roller derby game that combines a graphic narrative story with a 3D strategic sporting event. Together they form a top Roller Derby team, a full contact sport on quad skatesYour job is to act as a keeper of the team, managing both their personal and professional lives. This sounds like, in almost all contexts outside of a sports video game, a terrible set up, and on no account should you enter into a situation like that in your real life. Roller Drama - A SITCOMIn Roller Drama, you (Joan) live with & coach five kickass athletes: Anne, Portia, Lily, Cordelia, and Juliet. You, Joan, live with your team of five skaters, and have to manage both their personal and professional lives, balancing their emotional states with being "kickass athletes". Roller Drama apparently throws in some visual novel elements, as well as the bits where you skate for glory (although it should be noted this is not a roller derby simulator and has slightly different rules to the IRL sport). Now both they (and people like me, who find wheels frightening), can spend even more free time on roller derby with the annoucenment of 2023's sports management game Roller Drama. I can't be sure, but from their activity on social media I estimate they spend about 114% of their time being excited about roller derby, which I endorse. Whomst among us didn't watch Whip It over a decade ago and think about giving full-contact skating sport a go, before falling over on once and deciding to pack it in? I have a bunch of friends who persisted and now spend their weekends in gyms and car parks, where they skate under 11/10 names like Correctional Felicity and give each other huge bruises. We say this, because he too has a selection elemental skills and single target heals. Second on our list is a character that is remarkably similar to our previous, Mitsuru. She doesn’t quite reach the Severe ranks, but unlike our next choice she does have access to the Heavy All target Ice spell, Mabufudyne.Single target healing skills mean that she’ll be able to keep your party going when group heals aren’t enough.Ice Amp and Ice Break will further enable her Ice based spells.Access to the tremendously powerful Mind Charge, which multiplies the damage of the next magical attack by 2.5!.This is mainly thanks to her level 50 skill, Mind Charge, which multiplies the damage of the next magical attack by 2.5 times! This, combined with Ice Break and Ice Amp, will ensure that she deals an incredible amount of damage, provided a little setup takes place. Given time and experience however, Mitsuru will blossom into a party member more than capable of dealing huge chunks of magic damage to opponents. This is because she joins and seems to focus her skills on basic Ice, healing and ailment skills. In the early stages of her presence in the team, this fact isn’t immediately apparent. There she did so thanks to her personal, weakness boosting skill, and whilst things aren’t quite as spectacular in P3P, her entry takes place for the same reason: Massive magical damage. She too is held in general high regard, since she has also found presence on a Persona Q2 list of sorts. Next up is the character affectionately known as the older sister of the group, Mitsuru. Sadly, she does lack in either Wind Boost or Wind Amp, which would help in keeping her damage competitive, however her powerful heals make up for it.One of the characters that requires the least additional coverage by the protagonist, despite the point detailed above.Lacking in her skills is the excellent Amrita skill, which removes all ailments from the entire party, however this can be grabbed as a skill card for your protagonist via the Scathach persona. She also has access to excellent Wind skills, missing only the ultimate Panta Rhei (all ultimate elemental skills are reserved for the protagonist). This makes her the closest to what you might call a canon healer. Yukari has access to some of the most powerful healing and cleansing skills in the entire game. Were she to have access to Amrita, or indeed a way to increase her wind damage, like Boost or Amp, then Yukari would likely sit much closer to the top of this list. This, combined with the other choices in this article, will ensure that health restoration is never an issue. It may take her a short while to access the first of these – Media – but once she does, most of your healing worries go away completely. She is the only character outside of the Protagonist that has access to group heals, which makes her tremendously valuable. Her function in this regard is very much canon. This isn’t the first time that she’s made it to a high point in a list of ours, in fact she topped our healer rankings in Persona Q2, and it’s for a very similar reason that she makes it this high today: She is an excellent healer in this game too. The first of our best party members is Yukari, one of the first teammates you’ll meet in Persona 3 Portable.
